Day 1: Quito/Manatee Amazon Explorer
Fly from Quito to Francisco de Orellana (Coca), oil production center, named in honor of the man who discovered the Amazon River in 1541. A canoe will transport you to the Manatee Amazon Explorer to travel through tropical forests and native communities in search of adventure. Our guides will show us different ecosystems and reserves where you can observe the flora, 560 different species of birds in the Yasuni National Park and Limoncocha Biological Reserve.
Day 2: Parrots and biological reserves of Limoncocha
Early we`ll travel by motor canoe to visit a special corner of the forest, hills with clay precipices where the parrots eat the clay in order to digest their food. We will visit a second `lavadero` and then return to the manatee. We will drift on the Napo River to observe the `bebe leche`or better know as `pigmeo monkeys`. Finally, we will walk to the only biological reserve in Ecuador, Limoncocha Sudamericana and visit a local linguistics center.
Day 3: Culture/ Man of the Amazon/ Giants of the Forest
Today we began visiting the museum of Pompeya, a small sample of Amazonian archaeological centuries old. We will also admire the giants of the Amazon, the 80 meter Ceibos trees with enormous roots. The guide will teach you to row a canoe along the calm waters of the Napo river on our way to visit a real indigenous home and briefly share in their daily activities.
Day 4: Return to Quito
As the Manatee continues sailing upstream our guides will reveal more secrets hidden in the great mystery of the Amazon. Upon arrival we will be driven to the airport to return to Quito.
